Very nice portrait....Pierre
Isn't that interesting Dianne. It's about time that changed. 😀
.... and it's a great portrait too.
That's a fine portrait.Intrigued by your observation I Googled "20 best street photographers" and the list I found included one female photographer, Valerie Jardin. You can find her work here:http://valeriejardinphotography.com
Hi John, I guess it depend on whose list you read. I've got nothing against men being the top photographers because usually they are but I just find it unusual considering the amount of female photographers who have a real passion for the craft. Thanks for the link to Valerie Jardin ... I'll check it out.
That is an odd statistic. Street portraiture is my favorite hobby when it comes to photography. So is this a street portrait?
You need to challenge that statistic with your portrait.
She really stands out!
Hi Stefan ... yes this was "Street Photography" but it's not something I would usually attempt. I think it would be true to say renown photographers in the past like Willy Ronis, Axel Adams, Robert Dousneau,Henri Cartier-Bresson were all Street Photographers and I love there work but I can't think of any female photographer who's work is that world renown. Of course in modern day we have Annie Leboviich who has done some amazing work in many genres.
Fun60 .... thanks for your encouragement. You have travelled much and manage to capture people from many walks of life which makes your blog So interesting.
A lovely portrait, Dianne. That is an unexpected statistic. Hard to see why a Y chromosome helps with street photography.
Such a sweet smile on this lovely face.
That is a terrible statistic - keep doing what you are doing and we can all keep encouraging women of all ages to pursue their passions with vigor and let the world know about it. Maybe that's the difference between women and men. Women tend to go about their business quietly and effectively. Men like to make noise. Maybe it is about time we give women the permission to make noise of their own without being shouted down about it. Let the poppies stand tall!
