Crab Apple Blossoms .....

In my garden I have a little crab-apple tree
who delights me each Spring me with the prettiest blossoms.
Her real name is Malus-Ioensis-Plena but I think
the common name of crab-apple is much nicer.

I let her grow where she will
no chopping back hard to produce bigger and better blooms
no trimming to clear the pathway
she is the queen of my garden and for one week every year
she repays me with the softest most fragile blossoms laden with busy bees

Beautiful and often underrated blooms. I'm lucky enough to live in what was once an area of many orchards and although they've largely disappeared there are still many odd fruit trees growing wild in the hedgerows.

Hi Dianne, my Ioensis is not flowering yet. I am sure it will be soon. I just love those flowers so much, they are soft and beautiful,

Dianne your crab apple is flowering beautifully. Mine still has to show its pretty pastel flowers. It is a Ioencis as well.

Looks like your spring flowers could be a week ahead of ours.

I can see that the flower spikes of the grass trees would be ripe for invention!
