A Ghostly Facade .............

~  North Lodge Cottage    Adelaide Botanic Gardens ~

This quaint old cottage, originally a gatekeepers lodge
has now donned it's beautiful winter coat of many colours
burnished gold ... copper .... russett

Quite mysterious!

This is my contribution to

I agree, there is a touch of mystery in this facade, I imagine it all in red and orange, Autumn colors. You got wonderful images, well done!

This is stunning, I love the color the vines have turned and the shelves of books I can see in through the window have my curiosity piqued. This looks like a wonderful reading room.

Have a wonderful week Dianne!

Quite impressive. Great pictures for the theme day.

Fascinating, Dianne. Is that neglect or simply the naturalistic style the botanic garden wants?

Dianne said...

Jack:- iI don't think it's from neglect because everything around it is carefully manicured ... people generally love the ghostly appearance. It looks gorgeous in the summer season clothed in green.

The roof looks to be in first class condition, but if the creeper gets into the roof space, it won't stay that way. It does look delightful anyway.

What an interesting choice for theme day.

Looks great.

The blue window frames are perfect – contrasting with the autumn colour, but then they’ll be analogous with the green.

I like it!

I love that amazing overgrowth. Makes me want to know what lies inside and gives the place so much character!

In the thumbnail, I thought they had a really nasty termite problem. Glad to see that it isn't the case.

An amazing winter coat on this facade Dianne. Somehow it still seem soft and lush.

I haven't walked past the cottage for quite a while. I like the glimpse of books through the window, lit by a fire or sunset, it looks welcoming and homey to me.

How very interesting and look at all the books inside. A cosy fire a good book and a glass of something warming---I like it. MB

It does look a little ghostly Dianne, until you espy the glimpse of the cosy library inside, now that looks tres inviting on a cold day oui :) Perfect image for the theme.

Might look spooky now, bet it looks gorgeous when the leaves start to grow back.

Wow! This is probably the most naturally created (and alive) façade yet. The roofs and trim are a crisp contrast to the growth of vines.
