I couldn't help but smile at these cylindrical advertising pillars
recently installed in the streets of Adelaide.
Created from dis-used rain-water tanks
they are plastered with promotional posters
for our city's current Fringe Festival
Old tanks re-invented!
definitely not as classy as the revolving Morris Columns of Paris
but need-less-to-say they do the job.
I pass many of these as I travel to and from work on the bus and I've thought of photographing them, but now I don't have to. Thanks. They are a great sight. Maybe Adelaide Council will think to continue this type of advertising for other things once the Fringe is over.
Interesting and plenty of colors!Anyway sometimes when I see lots of advertisements like that...I have the impression it's enough, a little bit of pollution to my eyes! Just thinking... :) Your pictures are great! Léia
I never heard the phrase "Morris column" until reading a photo blog a day or two ago, and here it is again. So long as there is a need to show posters, this kind of thing is probably a better idea than having them stuck to every wall around.
That is a good idea for that kind of advertising. It is such a buzz in Adelaide at the time of the fringe festival. Back a few years ago our daughter, Sonya, was the site manager for the Adelaide Fringe Festival. she said it was one of the best jobs she didd.

A great idea methinks. Goodness there is a lot to advertise in Adelaide.
They are indeed somewhat reminiscent (but not as classy) as those I remember seeing in France!
certainly gets the word out there

Wow what a lot of events in Adelaide.
I love these and what a great idea!! Fun shots for the day! Thanks for sharing! Hope you have a wonderful week!
I'd be standing at that pole for hours!
You can read for hours when posters are displayed like that. Boom & Gary of the Vermilon River, Canada.
Such a great idea! Love the bright colours.
They make a nice collage. http://looseleafnotes.com

Clever idea.
I love your photos of Adelaide and really enjoyed my recent visit. I was rather sad not to have time to take any photos myself. I must return one day.
