~ Great White Egret Ardea Alba ~
Tall long legs - elegant long neck
wearing exquisite snow white strapless plumage
I spotted this beautiful elegant lady near the mouth of the River Murray
strutting her stuff along the shallows.
Would you believe the Great White Egret was once almost hunted to extinction
so it's feathers could adorn ladies hats!

I may be weird, but I find it hard to understand why such a bird would be killed purely for its feathers. No doubt if ladies of leisure could have seen your photos of such an elegant bird, they would have thought twice.
Lovely pics, I just loved your commentary Dianne.
Great WBW post!
Beautiful!! Boom & Gary of the Vermilon River, Canada.
lovely and graceful. :)
Beautiful photos of the Great White Egret.
I didn't know we still had egrets. I don't pay much attention to things like that.
The feathers do look lovely.
I thought hats mostly had ostrich feathers? Which is just as bad I suppose, if they were hunted too just for the feathers.
These and the Great Blue Herons are a sight to see and even better when caught in the box! Great captures!
The white egret is a head turner, Dianne.
An elegant creature indeed and, it appears, not at all camera shy (a bonus for us all)!
Oh she is pretty! Lovely shots of the Egret!
He's a beauty! Love your banner shot as well.
Hi Dianne,
Such an elegant bird and so graceful with the slender, model figure.
Great shots.
Happy Wednesday

I love her fashion sense! Terrific captures.
A perfect model for your lens Dianne. Thank goodness we have moved on from the times when so many species were hunted to extinction.
Nice pictures - I think seeing herons and egrets close up is always a sign of a good day!
Cheers and thanks for linking to WBW

Herons are such lovely birds - quite stately in a way
Spectacular, I would love to spot one of those one day!
The white egret does walk and pose like a model! Love the elegant fall of the tail feathers! Lovely photos!
Great photography
What exquisite shots!
Very nice series on a really beautiful creature.
Good work!
If I had long slim legs like this I'd strut around too, no chance of that haha! Beautiful image of the white egret Dianne and yes, so looking forward to some rain, I won't really believe it until it actually falls from the sky!! Happy weekend.
