Momotaro The Peach Boy ......

This wonderful statue of "The Peach Boy"
depicting Momotaro from the delightful children's folk-tale
was a gift to the people of South Australia
by Okayama Prefecture  -  Japan.

I would like to think  - that is a peach tree flowering in the back-ground
but it is far to early ....  most probably cherry or plum !

I don't know the story, but the statue is great! It must be terrific when the fruit trees are flowering.

Oh, it's wonderful. I remember reading this tale ages ago, and this is inspiring me to refresh my memory! Love the patina.

This will look absolutely magical when the trees are in full bloom. Wonderful statue.

It's a super sculpture Dianne, how perfect for it to be near the blossom trees, even the cherry and plum look gorgeous when in flower, so very Japanese in it's placement.
