Roses Amid The Church Bells .....

~  Pierre-de-Ronsard ~

Nestled on the edge of the town square of Houghton in the foothills
is this early South Australian church originally built in the mid 1800's

Now privately owned but beautifully maintained
in it's original condition... I love how this elegant
rose droops it's head over the fence on the terrace below
creating a little touch of England.

Hi Dianne,

How picturesque the old church and pretty rose are.
I wonder if the Pierre de Ronsard is a David Austin rose? - looks like it may be with the old fashioned appearance.

Happy week

Just did some research and it is the French Meilland company's, which is very much like a David Austin rose.

The fragile petals of the rose, with the rough stone of the church is a wonderful combination. Beautiful.

Perfect -- and it does look like an illustration from an English folk tale! I love your header shot as well.

Good to see it del maintained and the roses are just delightful. Very much like England - often the case around Adelaide.

Hi there - like the way you have filled the screen with the flowers - but you can still see the church in the background which gives the picture a good context.

I was a bit of a shock coming to Australia - but I had not lived in the house in the picture for many years when I migrated.
