Ship Ahoy #2 .............

~A replica of Captain Cook's ship The Endeavour  ~

As night falls and the lights come on
I was amazed to see the massive amount of ropes,
rigging and other necessary nautical equipment
on this meticulously replicated ship

Land ahoy ....Can you imagine climbing these
rope ladders on high seas with gale force winds.

Not for the faint hearted ... to be sure!

"I had ambition not only to go farther then any man had ever been before,
but as far as it was possible for a man to go"
~  Captain James R Cook  ~

Now that's what I would call an adventurous spirit.

Nice angle on this lovely ship. I saw her leave Whitby (this replica, not the original I hasten to add!) a few years back. Nice to see her again.

The lights on the ship really do accent all that rigging. And no, I can't even imagine climbing up there even under calm seas.

Really great captures.

Awesome captures, Dianne! I'm captivated by those old ships and like you, can't imagine climbing the rigging in a wild storm!! Fantastic!! Enjoy your week!

Looks so romantic! But can you imagine, pulling on the wrong rope?

Stunning in the light :-)

Excellent! Today's photos focus on the complexity of the rigging.

And, can you just imagine deciding to start sailing west without all the modern navigation aids and the knowledge that you won't fall off the edge??? I have none of that bold adventurer's spirit.

Beautiful, esp the lighting in the top one. The new camera really makes a difference in evening/night shots.

Excellent. I love these night shots, and they add a rather romantic dimension to a voyage that was anything but romantic.

Tremendous use of light. The top one almost looks like a film set. Where is Johny Depp when you need him?

I can't tell you how much I love that top shot Dianne. What a magnificent sight indeed! I agree with you about the rigging, how on earth do they make any sense of all that? As Joe said, Captain Jack Sparrow would look quite at home on deck here.
