Sacred Lotus.............

As you can see I got a bit carried away with my
new camera ..... trying out different techniques

The one effect I really wanted to achieve was
sharp subject matter with soft blurring in the background
and so here you have the dead seedheads of the Sacred Lotus
which are presently blooming in our City Botanical Gardens
with the soft blur of foilage and lotus flower in the background
I hope you like it!

Well, you have mastered the camera very quickly. Great shots indeed. I particularly like the tiny sliver of light on the seedhead in the first two shots and the great composition of the last one . . . go girl!!!

Beautiful.

Ann ..... It's a Canon 600D ... I just need lots of practice plus take time to read the manual. ... I'm loving it.

That's a nice camera. I was tossing up between that and the D60. When you feel comfortable with the camera I can strongly recommend doing an into to photography course to learn how to use it in manual mode and work with shutter speed and aperture. There's so much to learn once you start getting into it.

I'm coming down to Womadelaide and the Fringe again next month if you are around and would like to catch up.

Great investment, Dianne. And some lovely results already. here are some interesting video tutorials at http://www.michaels.com.au/index.php?option=com_wrapper&view=wrapper&Itemid=290, some of which deal with the different camera settings.

Oh wow, I'm only away one day and and so much happens.. Congrats on your new camera Dianne, I must say I'm a great believer in the photographer and not the equipment, you've always had a good eye so whatever you use you will always produce unique images. J'adore the soft romantic look of the lotus and how adorable is the dog in the boat, he looks like he's pointing the way for his master, blissful reflections.
