Beauty In High Places.......

Adelaide is a city where you need to look up to
 appreciate  it's many architectural treasures

.............................................

These pics were both taken looking towards the northern
end of the heritage listed Bonython Hall

The style of these windows is noted as being Medieval-Gothic
but I would refer to them as being Cathedral Windows

This is my contribution to
 Scenic Sunday

I do love restrained architecture and minimal embellishment. Just perfect.

Very interesting top to the Hall Dianne, at first I thought they were small gargoyles, pulling the image in closer not sure at all, leaves maybe! The windows are fabulous and would look right at home in any church or cathedral!

You're right, there's always so much up above eye level. Lovely colour to the stone in the second shot.

Great pictures, Dianne! They certainly don't build them like that anymore...

It seems a lot of care has gone into preserving this beautiful place, too, Dianne. Both photos are lovely.

I just love the architecture along North Terrace. Wonderfully captured.

The forms are familiar, but the details on the first photo are pretty unusual. Are they leaves?

Dianne said...

Jack:- As far as I can tell they look like leaves - definitely not gargoyles. Further along the wall there are lions with shields with leaves underneath so I'm just persuming they have carried the leaf theme and used it on the tower.
