The books might prove interesting, to someone determined to look carefully, but the corner of the room in the first photo is just wonderful. I just LOVE the ladder, although I wouldn't want to go up it. But I'd love to have a room like that, all my very own.— KKay, Alberta, CanadaAn Unfittie's Guide to Adventurous Travel
What a wonderful place, well captured in your photos.
We have a similar library here in Leeds and I plan to be there later this morning as I have a date with some ballet dancers later. The rule in the Leeds Library is that only the staff may use the ladders to access the higher shelves. Paul at Leeds in Yorkshire daily photography
The colours are superbly Rich Dianne. Almost like a gentlemans club in days of old. All it needs is a cigar and a glass of fine brandy.
Beautiful old books, it's interesting to see the difference in the book bindings from 1876 to 1877, I wonder if it had that sort of 'book' smell Dianne, love that! Gorgeous pictures! Hope you have a great weekend.
A chair in a reading room surrounded by books? Be still my beating heart ...
Would love to rummage through some of those pages.
Beautiful place to be there, climb the ladder, grab a book and read..
This looks like my old law library. There was no one there because today everyone does research on-line. I discontinued buying new volumes but kept the old ones to lend an air of seriousness to the space.
Lovely old books, I love the smell of them.
