Old Books And Musty Ink....

This is the historic Mortlock Library which houses predominately,
books pertaining to the history and culture of South Australia.

The walls are literally covered with books from floor to ceiling
and the hall has that lovely smell of old books and musty ink

I love to see that bit of scruff on the spine of old books
it tells me they have been well read

The library is beautiful. You know the white writing on the book spines, I have never seen a white ink pen. I have a couple of books with white ink writing.

Nothing looks sadder than books that have never been opened and read. These look as though they've had a lot of friends in their time.

Lovely. Could spend an entire day, if not a week, there!

Now that's what you call a proper library Dianne, isn't it funny the power books have over us, long live 'le livre' !!

This is so nice. Just this past week I bought a book from the 1950s, and over the years I find that an old book is just the one I want. This would be a great place to wander.

Oh, gorgeous. Where is it exactly? Starting to get some very early info re next year's Womadelaide which is getting me thinking about coming down again.

Ann - It's right on North Terrace - entered upstairs through the State library - E-mail me before you come over and I'll take you there!
