Cuddly Koalas.......

~ I think he needs a hug ~

I took these photos whilst on a picnic at Mikkira Station on the state's west coast
where we had hoped to see a few koalas in their natural habitat.
In the picnic area alone we spotted about twenty of these cute, cuddly creatures.

Some friendly with pretty faces others grumpy because we had invaded their space
and this one? - well I think he just wanted us to buzz off so he could go back
to what he loves best - sleeping!!

He does look rather sleepy! Somehow he reminds me of our raccoons but they can be quite nasty and destructive.

I've never seen a koala in real life Dianne so your excellent photos are the next best thing. Thanks!

Koalas are my favourite Australian animals. Ever since I got a toy koala as a child, I have loved these cuddly animals! Your photos are great! Where my daughter lives in Far North Queensland I have never seen any koalas.
Have a great week!

Beautiful shots! I'm still waiting to see a koala in the wild. Even a distant sighting would do me let alone something like this! It's hard when they keep building housing developments all over their natural habitat.

Red Nomad OZ:- No -I've never heard one roar but obviously not music to the ears!

So very cute and cuddly.

Their eyes don't seem adequate, do they? I can understand their getting infections in them a lot.

I have only ever seen one in a zoo, but thats not at all where they belong. You are so lucky to be able to observe these beautiful animals in their own habitat.

Great close-ups, Dianne! Everyone loves a cute koala, even if they are high on eucalyptus leaves all day:-)
