Art On The River Torrens......

"Talking Our Way Home"  by Shaun Kirby

These permanent glass forms, erected along the River Torrens
are representative of floating origami style paper boats made from letters
written home by early South Australian settlers and migrants.

At night the boats are illuminated and appear to float on the water.

What a lovely idea, I bet it looks gorgeous at night when it's lit up.

It would look great at night. We have something similar in Redcliffe a northern suburb of Briabane. It must have been the same artist.

I like the idea of using the letters but the writing does not show up on your photos. The shapes remind me of that paper game we had as children where the shape was moved by fingers and flaps lifted and witticisms read out loud ... childish wit was often rude!

Julie:- The letter writing is obviously re-done every so often but unfortunately at the moment it is almost illegible.

What a clever and lovely idea Dianne!
As previous posters have said... they must look lovely at night.
