A Renovators Dream .....

A handymans delight -  or simply gone to rack and ruin

There's something magical about these tumbled down, shabby buildings from the 1800's
our Australian landscape would be much diminished without them

Great shots. Love those terms.

Yes, I like the 'rack and ruin' expression. I wonder what 'rack' is

I too like these old buildings, and would not particularly like them renovated if it meant 'tizzied up'. But just renovated to enable them to stand another 100 years would be fine ... but who would want to waste money like that

Bit of new guttering and she'll be fine for a newly wed's honeymoon cottage.

You have so many of them in SA they are wonderful old reminders of yesteryear. They would make nice country cottages if renovated, but i guess it is the surrounding infrastructure that doesn't lend itself to such a project. I love the old stonework and the pigs on your side bar. I have seen them in the mall when I have visited and always admired them but never knew they had names until I saw them in your sidebar.

Joe from Melbourne Snaps will just love this...:-) He has a similar place in Victoria!

I do like these run down places - if the walls could talk I think they would say "stoke the fire, boil the Billy and save some damper for me". Here's the Victorian equivalent Alan mentioned http://melsnaps.blogspot.com/2011/02/bed-breakfast-anyone.html

Joe - I think SA has been out-classed - very impressive B&B.

This is beautiful. I love the worn with age look.
