Wood-Smoke & Eucalyptus .........

There is nothing nicer than the smell of wood-smoke and eucalyptus
wafting on clear morning air in the Australian bush.

With autumnal rains and the greening of the environment
this sight is no longer a threat - but a beauty to be enjoyed.

Sky Watching .........

The morning was cold  - the air was crisp
but the skies were worth waking up for

"Wild Thyme" ..........

I couldn't help but smile at the slogans
along the side wall of Wild Thyme Organic CafĂ©.

"A Drink a Day Keeps The Shrink Away"
I think they're talking coffee!

I had eaten halfway through my pomegranate cheesecake
when I realized I hadn't even taken a photo of it
too late now

Must go back soon!

Viewed Through Cathedral Glass ........

  ~  St Cyprian's Anglican Church  ~

On the weekend a friend and I were fortunate to take a peek
inside this quaint little church nestled in among
mainstream businesses in North Adelaide.

The side windows are furnished with clear cathedral glass
which gives a wonderful effect when looking out towards the
pretty side garden

deep green fernery ... canna lilies and iris add a dash of colour
when viewed from the pew

A Solitary Gull .......

Gulls seem to be universal birds ... when-ever I visit the sea-side
I see them ... sometimes in packs sometimes solitary
but there's always one timid little gull who stand at the verge
too shy and uncertain to join the pack
he's the one I share my chips with.

Isn't he the sweetest little gull

Shaking Out Her Colours ............

~   Shearwater Lake   ~

"At the end of the day - when the sun shakes out her colours"

Sunsets are unpredictable
after a dull and very over-cast day last evening presented us
with a five minute blaze of glory

Transparency....

Pelicanus  Conspicillatus  ~

“A wonderful bird is the Pelican.
His beak can hold more than his belly can.
He can hold in his beak
Enough food for a week!
But I'll be darned if I know how the hellican?”
Dixon Lanier Merritt

I think I would have to disagree with the last line of the rhyme by Dixon Merritt
this pelican snapped along the upper reaches of the Torrens River
certainly looked like his beak would hold more than his belly can.

Croydon .......

Queen Street Croydon
a trendy little street in the inner northern suburbs

My sister and I dropped into the Queen Street Café
for early breakfast - it was pouring with rain
but the coffee was good

Autumn Roses .....

The last of the autumn roses
deeper in colour and stronger in fragrance.

Wishing all Mum's out in blog-land
