Ode to Autumn .....

"Season of mists and mellow fruitfulness"
                                                                       John Keats

This pic was taken along a country lane in our beautiful Adelaide Hills
There has been a welcome change from the scorching hot dry days of an Australian summer
to wonderful cool nights and mild days of Autumn.

Queen Mary 2

Queen Mary 2 arriving into Outer Harbour -Adelaide
on a glorious sunny morning - she is on her round the world cruise
having left Southampton on January 10th and will arrive back in the UK on May 10th

We don't see many of the large luxurious cruise ships
in my corner of the world, so this was a special occasion
I headed down early with 4 photography friends to search out a good vantage point
then sat on a rock and enjoyed the momentous occasion.

Petrel Cove ..........

Petrel Cove - Fleurieu Peninsula

Sky watching along the south coast
this is a pretty little cove but those big waves rolling in
from the back can be very unpredictable
which makes it a dangerous swimming and surfing area

A pinkish glow along the horizon heralds another blistering hot day
even at 5am there are people up and about enjoying the cool of early morning

Before The Day Breaks .......

Boston Bay - Port Lincoln

Looking out across this watery vista reminded me of
"The Rime of the Ancient Mariner"

Water-Water everywhere but not a drop to drink !!
                                                                                   Samuel Taylor Coleridge

Thankfully I had remembered to take my water container along with me
on this early morning photo-shoot

Sellicks Beach ......

Sellicks Beach  -  Fleurieu Peninsula

a long walk along this rather remote but beautiful coastline
different light and shade with variable skies
and an incoming tide which I realized might leave me
stranded on the rocks or worse
made for an interesting day out with my Canon

Blue skies and Roses ..........

~ coorong national park ~

this week in my home city of Adelaide
we have had blue skies and soft warm days
perfect for a bit of birding
and of course - smelling the roses

~ red-necked avocet ~

I was delighted to spot this beautiful shore-bird  along the Coorong
long tall blue stockinged legs
and a long curved elegant beak

~ pierre-de-ronsard ~

this old fashioned rose was bred by the famous
rose growers in the south of France - Meilland
It's one of the prettiest climbing roses
As you know  - I love all things French
And I just had to buy it
